Dues, Fees, and Assessments

What are window dues and how/when do I pay them?

What are they? Window dues are passed through to the United Association at the national level.

How do I pay them? It is up to each member to pay their window dues monthly. You can pay them:

  • In person at UA Local 469 Union Hall (3109 N. 24th St. Phoenix, AZ 85016)
  • By phone at (602) 956-9350
  • Online by logging in here.
  • You can also set up autopay through your local bank.

What happens if I’m behind on my payments? There is a 3-month grace period on window dues.

  • If you fall more than 3 months behind, you will be suspended, and you will no longer be a member in good standing. There is a $50 fee to be reinstated.
  • If you fall more than 6 months behind, you will be expelled.
  •

What does it mean to be a "member in good standing"?

What is it? To be a member in good standing, you must stay current with window dues.

What’s the benefit of remaining in good standing? Being in good standing allows you to attend Union Meetings. Being in good standing for at least one year earns you the right to vote on Union-related business, such as elections and changes to our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), which dictates your wages, benefits, and working conditions. After being in good standing for two years, you are eligible to run for office.

What if I’m not in good standing? You will not be able to attend Union Meetings, vote, or run for office.  (See Local 469 By-Laws, Article 5, Section .08)

What does getting suspended mean and how does it affect me?

If you fall more than 3 months behind on your window dues, you will be suspended, and you will no longer be a member in good standing. There is a $50 fee to be reinstated.

What does getting expelled mean and how does it affect me?

Being expelled typically occurs as the next step after suspension. If you fall more than 6 months behind on your window dues, you will be expelled. If you get expelled, you are no longer a Union Member and must reinitiate to become a member again. Your date of initiation will change to the date you reinitiate.

What are death assessments and how/when do I pay them?

What are they? Death assessments pay for member death benefits. So long as a member is in good standing and up to date on their death assessments when they pass away, their beneficiary will receive a check for $15,000 from Local 469 intended to help with burial expenses. The UA also pays out $2,500 if you are in good standing.
